A Note From Gita
Dear Friends,
Another Conference, another year has been celebrated. Our Annual District Conference is the last in our Central Conference before the beginning of a new Conference year. Many exciting things to report as well as a look back at the things which have not worked out as well as hoped. I hope that you will take the time to read the DS report which tries to summarize our year.
It is wonderful to have Kristine Vainovska Rozefelde back as a student local pastor. Kristine took off a year to reflect on her calling and to give herself time to understand where God is leading her. Kristine is now enrolled in the University of Latvia’s Theological Department and will be serving the Cesis congregation along with Pastor Gundars Ceipe, both serving as part-time pastors.
Pastor Vivita gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Sarlote and is enjoying a year of full time mothering. She is happy to have the time to resume her studies and spend more time with God and her family.
Pastor Gunta was ordained as an elder at our Conference. What a joy to welcome this gifted young pastor into full clergy membership!
Each pastor has experienced challenges and joys! To learn more about each congregation, read the pastors’ report found in the Conference report (pdf).
We begin this new year expecting that God has prepared great things for our church and for our ministries. Certainly building closer ties with you is one of our priorities. Grapevine UMC, Texas is organizing the next Friends of Latvia meeting.
They have also begun planning and fund raising to give each Latvian pastor an opportunity to participate in this Friends of Latvia meeting as well as a Spiritual Guidance retreat afterwards.
We continue to praise God and pray for you, our extended family across the ocean. May God continue to bless, strengthen and lead all of us to be His voice and heart in the world to transform our communities and His world.
